Donald Takayama was a 3 time Master’s surf champion (1971/72/73). He’s best remembered for not only his surf shapes that produced style and art on the water, but his shapes that pushed the boundaries and redefined surf design as well as surfing itself. Donald was born in Oahu in 1943, and after 6 decades in the surf industry, he passed in 2012 due to complications from heart surgery. He was truly loved by the surfing community and will be remembered for many of the greatest innovations in longboard design. Takayama changed surf designs forever and he will be missed.
